Spain: Horse killed in locked because disqualified from a race.

It was called Pont Sorky the horse killed with blows of bar for being disqualified during a race in Manacor, Majorca.
Responsible for the brutal killing of the animal is its owner.
Sorky Pont, born and raised as a racehorse, won twenty-four races in his career but on December 30, of course, had no desire to run.
For this reason, during the race went from a gallop to a trot and then stop completely. An attitude that cost him the disqualification and, a few hours later, the life.
The owner of Sorky Pont, enraged at losing money because of disqualification, brought the horse to the stables and then began to hit him with a big metal bar.
For Sorky Pont there was no escape. He tried to flee her attacker, but there was nowhere to turn.
Finally, it is felled to the ground with a broken neck, it is not clear whether the blows or the fall.
The torturer is now accused of the crime of cruelty to animals.
The killing of the horse took place inside the Manacor Hipodrom. The jockey Sorky Pont, Mateu Riera said that the owner of the animal was "angry with him because he had committed misconduct on track."
"I dismounted and I left it in good condition," says Riera, "And I saw him go away with one of the owners. When I got back to the stables I found lying on the floor. But I have nothing to do with what has happened. "
The technical director of the FBT, Trot Balearic Federation, said the owner, trainer and jockey of the horse are, however, were all questioned, although it seems there is no doubt about who physically killed the animal. We therefore seek any responsibility.
The SEPRONA (Service of Nature Protection of the Spanish Guardia Civil) took charge of the matter, but could intervene even the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Spanish AnimaNaturalis animal welfare organization called the horse's death as "a shocking example of violence faced by animals profit or used in the shows," adding that it is not unusual that the race horses "subjected to physical abuse and training in situations extreme, in which it is required to overcome physical limits and in which their own lives are at risk. "
AnimaNaturalis concluded by commenting that "the ultimate goal of these activities, seemingly harmless and playful, is purely lucrative and condemns the animals to a life of constant stress, unhealthy and a permanent exhibition to diseases and accidents of various kinds. We therefore call for the withdrawal of subsidies to horse racing and dog. "

Sorky Pont was only six years old.
